The Purpose of the Okaloosa Walton Point in Time (PIT Count) is to obtain a snapshot census of people experiencing homelessness in our community on one night. We are conducting ours March 4th and need volunteers from all over the two counties to make this a success. The count includes people, who on the night of the count, are:
- Sheltered (living in emergency rooms or transitional housing) or
- Unsheltered (staying out doors or places not designed for habitation including vehicles, streets, parks, and abandoned buildings)
The PIT Count also presents a great opportunity to raise awareness of the myriad of challenges our unhoused neighbors face, hear personal experiences from those experiencing homelessness, and demonstrate the compassion and generosity of our community!

After you register you’ll be directed to a resource page. We are using the Counting Us App for this years survey. The resource page has instructions for how to download the app, and orientation video, and a cheat sheet that you can bring with you the day of the survey. A team lead will reach out to you the week February 21st with more information about your specific shift and additional training opportunities. We hope you consider helping us this year!
